Drumbaragh 1-08 Moynalvey 1-18
Not our day as Moynalvey ran out comfortable winners, but they were made sweat by a determined Drumbaragh in the opening 30 minutes. A Darragh McNamara goal helped The Drums to 1-03 to 0-03 lead at the quarter-hour mark. Moynalvey kicked in to gear reeling off six unanswered points in a 12 minute spell. Things began to unravel as Padraic Harnan goaled for Moynalvey on the stroke of half-time, following the initial save from Jake Balfe.
It went from bad to worse in the dying seconds with a Drumbaragh red-card putting pay to any opening round shock.

Though Drumbaragh were quickest out of the blocks in the second-half with 3 points on the trot. Moynalvey took full control of this championship tie. David McLoughlin led yet another Moynalvey purple patch, which saw the men in maroon outscore their opponents nine points to a single William Carry effort to run out commanding winners
