Drums Find That Lil’ Extra In League Final
The one thing stronger than the wind and rain on Thursday night was the will and determination of a special group of young ladies in green and red to claim a league title on their home turf.
On a late night of high drama, it took extra-time to separate the teams in this local derby. The Drums coming out on top after a point from the excellent Ava McGlue and Niamh Brady rattling the ‘Ross net to the delight of the drowned Drums faithful – only for Carnaross to raise the green flag at the death – but The Drums held on to win by the minimum!
Fitting to see Drumbaragh captain Lily Campbell accept the cup from Meath LGFA Colm McManus with a very special someone looking down from above. A proud moment for the Campbell family.
A wonderful night for the club. A massive thanks to our inspirational captain, her fellow players, coaches Grainne and James and credit to both sets of supporters for adding to the drama on the night.
Tip of the cap to our referee on the night and the officials, a massive thanks to Carnaross Gfc for playing their part in an enthralling encounter at a pristine Páirc Emmet (credit to Kevin Martin and the grounds committee).
